Why measure为什么要测

Roads are designed on paper. They live in the weather.道路在图纸上设计，却在风雪里服役。

Design models assume loads and seasons. Real trucks, real frost and real heat are different every year. Measured data turns guesses about a road into decisions.设计模型里的荷载和季节都是假设，真实的卡车、冻融和高温年年不同。实测数据能把对道路的猜测变成有依据的决定。

When can spring load limits come off?春季限载什么时候可以解除？

Lifting too early damages a thawing road. Lifting too late holds up local freight for weeks.解除太早，正在解冻的路面会被压坏；解除太晚，当地货运要多停几周。

Each spring the ground thaws from the top down. For a few weeks the base sits wet on frozen soil and the road is at its weakest, so heavy loads are restricted. Most agencies pick the dates from experience.每年春天，土层从上往下解冻。有几周时间，基层泡在水里、下面还是冻土，路面最脆弱，所以要限制重车。大多数管理部门凭经验定解除日期。

Fatigue cracking starts deep in the pavement, years before it shows on the surface. It is driven by the heaviest axles, and by how many of them come through on hot days.疲劳裂缝从路面深处开始，在表面看到之前就已经发展了好几年。它主要由最重的车轴造成，尤其是高温天里通过了多少辆。

A roadside sensor wakes the MT-16 as each heavy vehicle approaches and records the full pass at high speed. Over a season you get the real load picture of that road.每当有重车接近，路边的触发传感器就唤醒 MT-16，高速记录整个通过过程。一个季度下来，就能拿到这条路真实的荷载情况。

Soft ground under a new embankment, or the backfill around a culvert, can move if load arrives faster than the soil can take it. Pressure cells at the base show how load is building.新路堤下的软土，或涵洞周围的回填土，加载太快就可能出问题。埋在底部的压力盒能显示荷载在怎样增加。
